Bill Farrish is a jazz guitarist, composer, author, and recording artist based in upstate New York. He released six albums as a leader for MCR Records between the late 1990s and early 2000s. His playing and writing blend modern jazz improvisation with blues roots and sophisticated harmony, performing primarily in solo and small group settings. He developed his approach to the music on the bandstand, shaping an independent musical path through live performance. As a composer, his original music has earned international radio airplay across Europe, South America, and the Far East.

His performance career includes work at festivals, nightclubs, and classic New York City jazz rooms like Mikell’s and The Angry Squire. He has performed and recorded alongside a diverse range of jazz artists, vocalists, and session musicians. His credentials also include playing guitar for off-Broadway theater productions and extensive television work, which includes writing the theme music for a program by Bea Moss Productions, appearing on TCI Cable TV’s The Carl Bruno Show, and composing the theme and incidental music for Radio Seoul. He was also the subject of An Evening with Bill Farrish, produced by Raven Productions for QPTV.

Alongside his career on stage, Farrish spent over 20 years teaching music at the college level as an Assistant Professor. He is the author of several instructional books, including the Fretboard Essentials series and Harmonic Landscapes. He has written published articles and maintains an active private studio, teaching a student roster that runs from international touring professionals to local working musicians and educators.
